I feed purina. $19.98 for 44 lbs. I adjust amount with activity. I rarely have a problem with dog weight (to little or to much) by simply adjusting when needed. The only time I suppliment is with an expectant female and I use calves liver and cottage cheese three weeks prior to delivery and four weeks after.

I won't be feeding Diamond ever again...just found out about the salmonella batches the hard way! Two dogs out of the 14 so far with bloody diarrhea, not so great! I usually feed IFA high energy or IFA Hunters Advantage, but I think it's only in UT, CO, WY, ID areas.

Black Gold Performance Blend 26-18. Dogs do great on it, very little waste and dogs don't get overweight. Dogs seem to have more stamina and energy.
Adios,
Gary

I feed and sell lightning 26/16. Keeps my dogs up good. The only thing I have noticed with it is that if I feed to much, my dogs crap will start to get a little soupy. Easy to regulate that way though.....
Used to feed Ol' Roy and couldn't hunt day in and day out. It just didn't keep my dogs up. Switched to Hi Standard and went with it for years until it went up to 27 bucks a bag. Found this lightning brand and tried it and was as pleased with it as the Hi Standard. The only problem was that I couldn't get it on a consistent basis. Got an in and started selling it. 21.50 for a 50# bag.

Spoke,
That stuff is spendy. If I only had two hounds I definitely would upgrade the feed. But I can't afford that with 5. Personally I feed diamond hi energy, I am switching over to lamb and rice naturals to see if I can cut the amount of feed.

I asked the same question a month or so ago, couple people responded about blackgold. I was feeding Diamond lamb and rice 40 pound bag was lasting 4 dogs 10-14 days at 39 dollars a bag. I have a couple old spayed fat females that would eat as much as you put infront of them, switched to blackgold and a forty pound bag lasted me three and a half weeks, even the old fat dogs are leaving food they are getting barely 2 cups a day for fifty pound dogs and staying fat. So far very satisfied with it 30 dollars a bag still kind of high but cost per day for me is very low.

I am paying $32 for a 50# bag but not feeding two cups a day in the heat. As Craig said, the cost per day is lower than anything I have ever fed. As I have stated before, it is good business to support those companies that support hound hunting and Black Gold definitely does that.
Adios,
Gary

I'm feeding the Instinct Raw dog food for $5/lb. After Diamond's 2nd recall hiding behind multiple brands including Canidae and Taste of the Wild, I would never buy anything from them again.
