Anybody ever live trap bobcat with any luck. I wanna start trying to let more females go and I think that a live trap is the best way to go. I didn't have any luck this last season so I'm fishing for tips. Thanks

I have.

Get Mercer Lawing's video "Caging Bobcats Guaranteed Success." It will get you going in the right direction.

How many traps do you have?
Are you getting refusals?
How are you making your sets?

I have 3 traps and set them in my best area. I had nothing come close. I am useing my normal set with urine a call lure and jack rabbit bait. In one I also hung some feathers in the cage to give it eye appeal

Looks like you already have had some good help, and much more "know-how" than I have. However, I do have some relatives in the midwest who have caught quite a few. They have a cage trap like for a coon, except bigger, and at the end of the trap there is another compartment where they put a live rooster, when that rooster sounds off the cat hears and comes and goes in the cage. The cool thing is they can use the same rooster as much as they want, because the cat can't get to it. I never have tried it, but would sure like to sometime in the future.

I saw an americana rooster one time that would crow right in a bobcats face.check your laws on trapping, as it may not be legal to use animals, parts, or even feathers

Wyo Hunter,

You need more traps!!!

I know the cages are expensive but running three is going to be an excercise in frustration (in my opinion). Get Mercer or Bob Small to build you a dozen or better yet 4dz nestable traps and you will recoup your money with the first fur check.

Be carful with your urine placement as it causes rolling (cages or foothold). Id try to only get it in the back of the cage where the only way to it is over your pan. Same with lure/bait. Get the trap in the cats travel way with the lure in the back of the cage and down wind from the travel way. Set on sign if you can find it and set heavy.

Post a pic of one of your sets if you can.

Hope this helps.
