Hey English folks.
My pack usually consists of any creed or color as long as it hunts like I want. But I just picked up a registered redtick from northern California and I'm hooked! This dog is intense, and built right to boot. She is quickly turning into my favorite dog.
I know nothing about older English lines, but here are some in the front of the pedigree:
WarWicks Red Willy
Wilcox Thunder Bingo
Oney's King
Perks Norther Kujo

Can anyone direct me to big game bred Redtick kennels on the West Coast? I manly hunt cats, but do head south for some bears. I'm located in SE Oregon.

the Oney blood(cujo is oney bred also) is the foundation of the english dogs we use here.The wilcox blood is generally cold nose also and get deep type of dogs/Not familar with the first dog.

This dog according to the previous owner came from either WV or Michigan. I know there is a hell of a lot of difference and miles between the two. I am still researching.
Dam was night champ Maggie May Larson
Sire was grand night champ Warwick's Red willy
The ONEY and WILCOX dogs were the gransires / dams.
As I am primarily a big game hunter, would you recommend considering one line over another when I start to look for a stud? Assuming most of my dog's line is ONEY and WILCOX?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Well I can only tell you whats worked for us.

HAve very little of the Wilcox. The Oney we have has crossed well with Sugar Creek and the older Hardtime(wouldnt recomend NOT going thru Rocky to get it if ya can,what we have used goes back to Speck without going thru Rocky for the most part,if ya use Rocky try and get it lined breed back a couple generations)Briar Creek has crossed well also.We have recently started crossing with Rooster Blood and are getting real good results,the oldest pups just turn 2,most started their first bear season(9 mo old)Out of 11 pups 9 are running and treeing well(several have treed their own bear) 1 is dead(idiot owner) and the other doesnt get hunted.

Thanks for the info and time telling me a little bit about older lines and crosses you have found successful. I am eagerly learning more and more about English dogs. Not having too much luck on the west coast with stud dogs.
I have been reading a lot about the older Rooster blood and very interested.

OH there is not any Redtick breeders to speak of on the west coast. There is a hand full of people but most of there stock comes from the east parts..

Thanks! I did go to Eagle Mountain Utah for the UFH field trial on 4-5-08. Jenny ended up winning the "senior" division. My new Bendy redtick dog made it to the "Junior" finals.
Going to Elk Creek California next weekend. Hope to see some of the Prineville boys there.
I have talked to a couple people with registered dogs here and there. I want to see pics and pedigrees before I decide to breed her. Besides I really don't need any puppies right now - just looking down the road.

Buddy has some pretty heavy Sugar Creek.Not sure of when he is plannin on breeding the older gyp. Both my bear dogs(down on bear dogs right now)have it in their line.

Which Buddy ? Just wondering how heavy.
