Question for experienced breeders. I have a bitch that won't stand for a male. We've made three attempts with two different studs. One older one younger stud. She's alpha type bitch that won't stand for a breeding. I build a breeding bench and taped her to it, but the stud was freaked out by the whole experience. I was thinking I'll have to do an artificial insemination on her next heat. Any other ideas or comments?

Had one like that, used to throw an old jacket over her head and hang on, worked for me.

If you have to do AI the guys at All Creatures near Medford, OR was great for us. I was just up there trying to get a bitch bred in April and the male wouldn't do the deed so we took them to All Creatures and they did a great job. Got 10 pups out of one breeding and it was pretty inexpensive too.

Are a few females like this. Hold her! Andy

i had a catahoula bitch like that and when the time came i would just pull her head thru a cattel panel and tie her off so she couldn't back out and let the male have his way with her . it's a pain but the pups were worth it lol

Is your female truly "in"? Sometimes they won't stand when they're just coming in or starting to go out. Have you bred her before?

Bingo Mike, you got it right. My son just told me that he saw them stuck today. It was a really late stand. She kinda started to go out and then got all puffy today and took him.

I'd still like to know what is the price to do AI???

love all creatures take our hounds there for everything owner used to be a hound hunter so u don't get the dirty looks u get in other vet offices( you know the look) great price took a dog there that had pyramitra only cost 300 bucks no one else would take anything under 1500

Not sure the price but ill call on my lunch hr tomorrow and post what they tell me for a quote

They are $50 if u have the male with doc has to quote u if ur sending out for seman
