We use buried hollow stumps, bury them fill them with bait, put a cut slab and rocks on top to keep small critters out and your ready to go.

I don't use bait containers. One of my baits is up against a big tree. All we do is put the bait out and cover it up with dead fall. The biggest heaviest dead fall to keep anything but bears from getting into the bait. Of course after the bear uncovers everything it's a buffet for everybody else.

ken we use containers some barrels some buckets barrels we cover with a piece of plywood and a rock on top that only a bear can move the buckets we put the lids on tight and only bear can seem to get them open and they also will leave some good evidence on judging how big they are.

i use 55 gallon drums and do the same as second nature put plywood on top to keep rain out and then stack rocks wood and anything we can find in the woods to keep coons out and only bears get in. I also use haywire to tie the barrels to a tree to make it alittle harder for the bear

We also bury hollow stumps, put a piece of plywood on top and a concrete block with the cores poured full with bent rebar for a handle works well here.

I dig a hole at the base of a dead tree or a big downed tree. Pour my bait in and cover it with logs, then I pour used resturant oil over the logs into the hole. If the bears eat all your bait theyll keep coming back and chew on the oil soaked logs. when your done theres no barells to pack out.
