I have owned very few dogs that would work a drag. It seems the only ones that would I ended up culling them. The only way to see what a dog really is is to hunt it. Now a lot of people will disagree with this and that is what makes the world go around. Point is don't get excited that a dog will not work a drag or a roll cage. I work hard at settling a young dog down not to hyper him up. To me it says nothing as to what potential the dog has based on how he works a drag or roll cage. Dewey

How old is your dog?

Just about every broke dog I ever owned did not care to run drags made from bottled scents. Bottle scent and the real thing are different and a good dog knows it. When it comes to coon I always use the real thing, get a fresh killed coon and use it for your drag to get your young dog started. Road kills that are not mangled up are a good source, you can freeze the whole coon and use it over and over. You don't have to thaw it out, just dunk it in a bucket of water and you are good to go, when done put it in a plastic garbage bag and back into the freezer until the next session.

That is what you need to think about-- that bugger just might not be ready.. and like was said there are a lot of dogs that will not run drags...
If the dog is only 5-6 months old for Pete's Sake-- let it mature. -- take it for walks often near creeks and in the woods.
9-10 months old turn some live caught game loose and see what happens
then Hunt the wheels off it.. if that does not work.. get a new dog
there are a bunch of clowns selling dogs that were not from hunting dogs.
