dead hours

anyone ever notice between midnight and 2 in the morning kinda dead hours not much stiring.

That's commonly refered to as the witching hours. Only thing active is Johnny Law

I see the most activity between 3 and 5 am.

really, between 3 and 5 huh, good to know. I've always headed out at dark and hunted til around 1 or 2

It seems like to me that from dark to midnight they are more spread out. You dont have to go as far and might see 1 or 2, then after 3 you see them all bunched up like 6 plus at a time and in the areas that you would expect to see them. Not just everywhere you wouldnt expect to see them, like in the dry desert areas.
Just what I have observed in my area.

yeah around here you see them at dark until midnight usually. then you start seeing them moving around again at 3 or 4 in the moring. its kinda weird i wonder why they stop for a couple hours in the middle of the night

i also find it weird if they moved at 11 in the right conditions my dogs would still run it at 1 but hardly ever get one going during those time. so i hunt dark to midnight pull over nap till 2 and hunt till daylight

The largest portion of the coon hunting I do is on foot. Walking the woods, creeks, river sides. etc.
