What r ur thaughts

Could be costly in more ways then one; dogs could fall and get seriously hurt causing large vet bills or could die. Potential for lion grabbing them a lot easier than if dogs were on the ground also. There's another thread on here about it if you don't get a lot of replies.

In the big timber country there isn't real need for a pressure tree dog, but a more so of an accurate tree dog. I wouldn't own a climber if it was bad myself.... i don't like vet bills any more than the next guy, but in the end its your dog, if it hunts the way you like, and can tolerate the risk of losing the dog OR the cat jumping because of it then keep it.

My friend in Nevada says that's the biggest reason they lose cats, real short trees, dog goes up and cat goes out.

Was hunting this morning and the dogs were trailing off to my left. I hear them blow up treeing and hustled up to see my Lacey gyp running up a limb with three young coons right in front of her. She get up about 15-20 feet and comes tumbling out. Made one complete flip and hit the ground on her side. I just knew that she had busted something up inside as she got to her feet and humped up. She went straight to my pickup and jumped upon the tailgate and just stood there. I shot out one of the coons and she came back and wooled it a little. She trailed another coon off a windmill and seems to be okay. I sure hope so.

No good. I have got a dog now who is a tree climber but I'm not getting rid of her because she is one heck of a dog. The problems I have had is jumping lions and bobcats out and getting torn up bobcats. If there is a bobcat in a pinion or cedar, I am RUNNING to get there, otherwise by the time I show up, the only thing left is a dead cat with a lot of holes to stitch up.

The other thing I have noticed is that it can be a learned trait. My other dogs started climbing for a while until I corrected them consistently for it.
