I brought a Tek in to try and it just wasn't easy or impressive. (this was before the Price drop).

I have one on the shelf that I will give you a good deal on if you decide to go with the tek, I bought it when the Price drop happened thinking they would start selling more, and It's been sitting for a month or two now.

First thing is no maps, Just an arrow pointing to the dog. But in defense for the 10 minutes I played with the compass, I did feel that the compass was better and more responsive than Garmin.

It is a pain in the ass to figure out how to setup and operate. Take that for what it's worth, I'm normally pretty good about picking up something and figuring it out without the manual, however it would have taken me some time and I would have needed the manual. Again, I'm sure that if I used it allot I would have gotten better at it.

I've only sold a few of the Tek systems, (Probably 3-4) One of which the customer called back two weeks later asking to go to the Astro.

If you are Planning on Hunting quite a bit, Go with the Garmin. If you need a shock collar buy the Sportdog, Consider the Tracking a Free Add on.

Just my two Cents, I've heard SportDog is coming out with some maps, But They would really need to come to the table to compete with Garmin. And I don't think they really care to do their Homework to find out what Hound Guys need.

Hell Garmin is barely taking advice doing it now after several years.

I have the garmin and my buddy has the sport dog andhe's usually putting my garmin collars on his good dogs because of troubled with the collar shutting off and losing dogs and the maps are a big convenience I haven't personally used it but a close friend has and hates it
