What do you want to know about bear trapping?

1. 50 percent of all bear harvested in Oregon are done so by trapping.....Either a barrel trap or ankle catch, mechanically fired snare set in a cubby fashion over rank baits.

2. You can't do this with a general bear tag....... only as a land owner agent or Contractors and Usda Aphis Wildlife Services under contract and now unregulated by Odfw any place a bear lays a track.

3. unethical hounds have been replaced by these more ethical means. The ability to distingish sex and age fell under fire so it was decided a snare is the most economical method and humane method of removal of problem bears and now management bears since Odfw Administrator Anglin says you the sport hunter can't compete with the stealth killing of snares and baits.

4. Pretty cool if you think about it! We once used select harvest methods and were illegal killing females with baby cubs....Now your license and tax dollars are used to eradicate bears and you get to pick up the tab.....Baby cubs are now called "unknowns"
Called unknowns since they aren't even being sexed, just shot and dumped over the bank, but just think, those bears that are brought out of the woods, you the sport hunter and tax paying citizen pay to process at the butcher shop at about $160.00 dollars each...

Seems to be acceptalble to the majority of hound hunters in Oregon since this is the widely standard used method all across western Oregon with little or no resistance by sport hound hunters.

Folks it don't get much better than this!

You had to ask about bear trapping....There you have it....

Well? How about that bear trapping discussion here in Oregon? You wanted to discuss bear trapping? What is your question?

I bet some of you Oregon hound guys on this board can explain the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlifes plan for trapping bears for profit here in Oregon,Possibly shed some light and answer some of your questions....

I bet I can answer some of your question about bear trapping legally in Oregon and preferably on the open forum.

The questions don't need to come from Oregon. why not engage in the truth behind where our hunting rights have evolved over time?
