hey so i want to update my pack. cuz its starting to get cold. so wondering what you all pack in your huntin pack when your out hunting when you leave your truck. thanks

stichin needle,xtra batteries, radio,socks,black or duct tape super glue h2o couple snacks spare gloves matches or lighter tp compass incase gps fails and two leashes

I always have either a flare or pitch to start fires, newspaper, some drinks, snacks, first aid kit, tp, leashes, ammo, pistol, headlamp and back up light.

TP never forget TP to many shirts with no sleaves.

Because I often hunt roadless terrain on foot, freecasting the mutts, and because I often hunt alone, my pack has alot of stuff in it, and it's friggin heavy. In the event that I get hurt and have to spend the night unexpectedly, I hope to survive. As you know, the pacific northwest is wet, wet, and cold......not dry and minus 10 deg C.

Extra merino top, socks, gloves, and wool toque.
Ti backpacking mug, utensil, pop can stove, fuel, flint and steel, water purification tabs, bottle of gatoraide, coffee / soup mix, lipton meal x 1, granola bars for "survival" food. I also carry a lunch that is intended to be eaten that day out.
Firestarter as above, tinder, cotton balls with vaseline, waterproof matches, headlamp, compass, extra batteries, TP, flares x 3, PLB, knife, Fiskar hatchet, Sil Tarp, cord, Blizzard Survival Bag, firstaid kit......moleskin, tape, large bandaids, ibuprofen, tensor bandage, guaze wrap.

And of course, dog tracking stuff, gun and ammo, gps, 2 cups dry dog food, leashes, and a few other items I have likely forgotten.

This gear weighs 26lbs, doesn't sound like much, but after a day bushwhacking up and down mountains, it feels a whole lot heavier.

I'll second that, my pack with the snowshoes on and full of water weighs a tick under 30 pounds and it will kick my butt by the end of the day.

I take along a set of crampons as well as most of the stuff listed earlier. I also carry a good chunk of parachute cord also. In the country I find myself in from time to time, a little "mountaineering" gear goes a long ways.

I also carry a small towell and a big garbage bag. They seem like odd items, but neither take up a lot of space nor weigh much and are used a lot. I also have some "zip ties" thrown in as well.

In the field first aid kit for dogs and me (have almost a full vet clinic packed in the Jeep--do a lot of long hunts away from home when I can!), water, snacks, socks, gloves, headlamp, extra headlamp, batteries, Bowie knife, skinning knife, pistol, extra ammo, electrical tape (that black stuff, has so many uses...), matches, camera, might have forgot something else. No toilet paper, we got lots of moss around here

Most of that stuff but I added a tin cup to melt snow in in cause im out over nite

Something I like to carry for fire starting that works great is a small bottle with kitchen greese with a little gas mixed in the gas gets it going and the greese will burn a while and gets it going. When I go fishing I just use greese. It works great. Its funny a lot of my friends laughed until they saw it in action now I see it in there rigs.
