I know there was some issues with the Astro-220 GPS. In the past few hours I searched the web but couldn't find any recent news/posts, in related forums, about this issue. So, I have to assume that it has been corrected by Garmin.
Here is my problem: I bought the Astro-220 with three collars about year and a half ago. A few moths ago, the first collar started dropping range followed by the second one some time later. Their range is no more than a couple hundred yards. The third collar works fine, I can track the dog in a distance of more than a mile.
What is puzzling is that everybody says that the Astro-220 is defective but in my case it tracks one collar as it should, but the other two disappear from the screen after about two hundred yards or so.
Is anyone familiar with this? Seems to me that the Astro-220 works fine, the problem could be the DC-40s. Are they reparable?

Sounds like you may have an ant. problem on the collars. Try taking the ant. off the good collar and put it on one of the others and see if that helps.

I was having the same issues i replaced the antennas with the tuff antennas from du hound supply, and have not had a issue since then. Not to mention the collars with the new antennas lose signal alot less than the stock.

The problems have been corrected. However there are still a few bad antennas out there. So the potential of a problem is still there. Just replace the antenna, and problems will be solved. Does not matter what you replace it with. A coat hanger will work much better than a broken antenna.
