I have a nine week old camermon pup I was thinking of giving to a youth hunter in my neighberhood.
This would be his first pup. I have seen how the farm aninmals are took care of so I know the pup would be took good care. My concern is being to gamey and gungho for a first time dog.
I really like this boy so I dont want him soured on hound hunting. He is in a good location can coon hunt from house. Just asking for some opionans.

You would be more likely to sour him if you gave him a mediocre dog.Kids need to be successful early in their hunting endeavors or they will quickly lose interest.Give him the dog and then help him as much as you can along the way.I think then you would be setting him and the dog up for success.Praise to you for being willing to give him the dog, that is a kind thing to do.

I think a non gamey dog would be worse! The kid would quickly lose interest, a quick starting, stubborn dog is the way to go. Stubborn in a way that the kid can make mistakes and the dog wont take it to harshly.

Yes a good dog is the way to go. However you need to take the time to go hunting with him
