lost 3 of my best friends today :( taken by wolves in western Montana. this is a growing problem for those of us with hounds and something that cannot just be ignored! expecting to be walking into a lion tree, instead I walked into the 3 best dogs I've ever had the privilege of owning lying there lifeless in the snow. all the time, money, and effort put into making these dogs what they have become was just takin from those of us in a matter of minutes, FOR NO REASON! nobody deserves the feeling I felt today and it's something that cant be put into words! I hope folks take the time in viewing what these ruthless animals (wolves) have done to me and many others so it can be put into some perspective of how "harmless" they are. i'm blessed to have been able to hunt behind these dogs and unfortunately spent my last day behind them today. my lion season ruined and the future of my cat hunting ruined in a matter of moments. it really is unfortunate that we have to deal with this issue but theres many folks out there that have zero understanding of what wolves are truelly capable of with no regard whatsoever to anything other than their own personal joy. so sad! even sadder is the fact that this unfortunate event was witnessed by the future of our hunting here in Montana! if this doesn't put a bad taste in your mouth look at the photos. please take the time to gain a little education from the real world about what these "beautiful" creatures called wolves can do in just seconds! unfortunately I cant figure out how to get photos on here but was a terrible day!

I know money cannot replace what you have lost, but if a rancher can get reimbursed for live stock lost can't a houndsmen get what his dogs are worth?

I've worn your shoes and I am so sorry you are forced to deal with this...it is truly the shits!!! I can tell you that it's as bad now as it will ever get, meaning tomorrow will be better. Take some time to reflect and appreciate what you had and then get going again. It took me quite a while to want to hunt again and I will always worry when I unsnap the leashes but I am back to enjoying the woods with my hounds now.

Again, sorry for your loss
Scott

Drew, I will never forget the look on your faces when I drove up and seen you four. Something I never wanted to encounter. It is very sad day when four young adults have to pack 3 of their best friends off of the hill. As Adeline said “Hiking out with dead dogs over our shoulders, covered in blood, and listening to wolves howl, isn't how our cat chase was supposed to end.”
We lost some fine hounds today, but your season is far from being over. My dogs were sparred by the grace of God in the exact place yesterday. Anytime you are willing to get back out there, you know where my kennel is. :)

Sorry for your loss,i cant even imagine how you must feel. Im going to throw this out here for you. I have two pups, one 10 mo old female and one 11 month old female both out of west coast bred cat dogs. Both have been on quite a few bobcats and are going to make nice dogs. If you are interested i will give you one. I have a friend in Trout creek Mt. and need to go see him sometime soon so i could even haul it over for you. If interested give me a call and i can tell you about both dogs. Sorry again and wish you all the luck in getting through this ordeal.

Mark that is a great gesture. I believe I would make an audio of a pack of hounds treeing, return to that area and elimate some problems. Sorry for your loss. Al
