Wouldnt go

I have a 5 yr. old That I bought about six weeks ago. He has seen a ton of cats and is supose to be a finished dog. I know he hunts because he caught his a bobcat on his own the first week I had him. I have video of him on lions ect. The problem is I took him and my cur pup out today with a friend and his dogs. Dumped dogs on a fresh snow lion track and they all took off. My two came back, would start again and come back. Finally the cur pup went with the pack and the 5 year old run about 300 yards out stopped and turned around to see if I was coming. I never said a word mostly being imbarrassed about my hi dollar hound. He came back and the rest of the dogs were on the chase. had this problem a week or two ago when I started him on a bobcat track. I went back to move the truck turned around and there he was. I have never left him in the woods. Any thoughts?

Did you have him start the track or was turned in to the other dogs that he didn't know? It sounds like a confidence problem to me in the other dogs, JMO.

Sounds a lot like the problem I'm having right now I bot a dog that does real good for me my 5 year old male will not go now I've tried sending him in to probably 6 races in the last 2 weeks and he will get off the road just a little ways then come back but does better if he's out starting the track but if that new dogs starting or ahead of him he comes back to the truck very irritating

How many other dogs is your buddy turning loose? If there are several and they are ahead of your dog, chances are, the track is getting stomped out and he cant find it so he comes back. Maybe he just isnt used to hunting around your buddies' pack of dogs. Give him more hunt time alone with your dogs and keep trying him with your buddies dogs until they get used to hunting together. Every dog is different, some will just fit right in and hunt regardless of which dogs its hunts with. Others tend to be a little timid at first. Some of the other guys on here should have some other helpful ideas for you.

My biggest concern is when I have started the track with him being the only dog out the box. My cur pup just likes to run and stomps out the track so I have been just letting the vet out to start and he wont let me out his sight. When I first got him he could give a s##t if I was anywhere near him, Now he thinks that I walk on water and doesnt want to let me out his sight. Also at his last home I think he was the Alpha dog and he has found out the hard way thats not the case at my place. I dont know if I have spoiled him to much or he has abondenment issues. In any case were buds and he has a home for life but I hope he snaps out of it.

Have you been shocking/correcting the dog at all?

Only time he has been corrected is for getting in the trash cans and that was briefly.

Are you trying to run him with a shocker on ?? If so take it off and try. Iam with( not color blind ) It sounds like he has been shocked for not coming .
