4 more for us this weekend

Saturday morning we had 2 spotted but we were running late so we didnt get to the tracks until they were a couple hours old. We walked sugar, molly and our new pup Kona in. Kona is the pup in our last post that wasnt showing any interest in chasing. We walked into the section and there were tracks all over and i had to sort them out visually while molly and sugar were hunting in the cat tails. I had kona with me and we walked to where i figured the coyote went. We go on top of the hill and found a good set of tracks. Kona stuck her nose it them and she was off cold trailing fast. She hit the slough on the other side of the hill and jumped the coyote and opened up good. THe other two dogs came on the same track and they caught up to her and all 3 dogs were flying on the track. They took it north a half mile then back south a half mile about where they jumped it. It got in the slough and Kona and molly had it bayed up until i went in and it busted. A poster hit it with a shot and it came back into the cat tails and all 3 dogs bayed it up and took care of it. Kona even got some fighting in and has a cut to prove it!

We went to the next spotted one, same three dogs hit the track perfect and jumped it in no time, they took it north across a road then another mile to the next north road and it was shot. Quick one but it was fun to see Kona in there again all the way to the kill. these 3 dogs seem to be a good combination

We then hunted another section and got one going, this time it was our big hot nosed Chief that chased it around and around for a while before it bayed up.

Sunday we killed one right away in the morning after spotting it on the lake. Chief was on this one as well and took it through 4 different sections before it was shot. We ended up going into a big big section after that because we had a lot of tracks in the fresh snow. I walked kona the pup in with sugar from the north. Molly and chief came in from the south. It wasnt 10 minutes and kona was cold trailing and opened up shortly after. She took the track through some cat tails up on a tree covered hill and back down to the same cat tails. She couldnt get it going in there with the snow on top of the cat tails so molly came to her rescue and got it going. Kona, molly, sugar and chief took off on this track and ran it a long ways. Took it out of the section for a while then back in. they picked up a nother coyote along the way so dogs split and it was confusing. Both coyotes went to the west side of the section and jumped another coyote so we had 3 going and it was getting dark. Dogs were struggling with all the tracks and deer running the same path. It was a fun day of running and really fun to see a pup learning
