Found out there's a new April season here in Colorado. Doesn't appear to be extending the regular season from nov19-march 31 but a new season in itself running from April 1-30. Does anyone know what the objective is with the new season rather than just having one season go from nov-April?

If you fill your tag in April your done for the next year. You have to buy next years tag to hunt the April season. There is a list of the quota numbers for April also. I am speculating they are testing the waters to see how many guys use it for an excuse to run bear.

well that sucks if it burns your tag next year, why would they not let you use this years. My understanding was to get more tags filled, if so people are going to be awfull picky on what they shoot. Or it will just benifit the outfitters

Checked in a lion today and I asked the officer and he told me that the units you can hunt in April are the units that the quotas weren't met last year.

Thats interesting, so the april season from now on will be for the units that didnt kill out the previous year, not a bad idea I guess as long as theres plenty of cats in those units. Thanks
