I recently bought a nice used Wildlife 1000 box with antenna and all accesories included. I need to now buy my collars for it, it only came with one and I need 3 more. Being new to this all, I would like to get some feedback on collars. I bought what I feel is the best box, now I want to get the best collars for mt dogs. Any suggestions? Does the tree switch help or is it a waste also?

The best ones that I`ve seen used are the falcon hunters devoluped for hounds tracker and colars. The tracken unitt is around $1200-1500 bucks but its not that much more better than a wildlife, however the dog collar tracken colars are better that wildlife colars. For the life of me the name slips my mind but they have dealerships/ but I believe ya can`t buy a collar and not the tracken receiver ! Really a a $ 110.00 wildlife tracken collar with a tree switch installed is great and most widely used the most by all the Pro Hound boys.Thjers a dealer in reconditioned and new lights, tracken unitts an collars in Jackson Tn. he will C O D ya what ya want and is set up too take a few different credit cards also !I saw him at Arrurra Ky at dealers row every year at his booth and he is honest and knows everyone !But I quite in 05 so havent kept up sence the end of 04 .Contack PKC headquarters in Ind. and talk to Miss Ritta Meeks or too Steve Fielder or too Mr. Larry Meeks if hes in/ they know this dealer an can give you his ph. no. and he will fix ya up budd !

Marshall's are the best in my opinion, easy battery changes, lightweight, and i get better beeping signals with the marshall than i do my other collars. And i personally like the tree switch too. Just one opinion of MANY!!! :D

Yea, the Marshall is the converted flaconers transmetter hound unitt but getting the extra colars might be impossable, I don`t know for sure ?
Now the Johnson collars are super, just put it on the dog, leave the maggnett out and its good for a long long long time an same streight sighnal out put !
But you can get the Wildliefe collars an a better and inproved streight batter from the edealer and its really awesome !

I have a Tracker System and Quick Trac collars and I love it. I also Have a Marshall System and it is powerful and every bit as good and the changeable batteries are the deal cheap and reliable. The Marshall costs a bit more but in the long run is saves money.

I have the Yagi mount on my Tracker now so I can use the big antenna if I need to. It wil do anything the old blue wildlife box wil do know.

Wildlife however is still hard to beat I used them and the Johnson for years and you can rest assured you have a top system. Just get some good Quick Trac collars to go with it and you will be happy. They have a quicker repeat time than either Johnson or Wildlife collars and that makes for a more presise find especially in bad bouncing country.

I really like the johnson collars, quick tracs work good but I have seen some problems with them not turning on or shutting off sometimes.

The Marshall collars and Quick Track collars are the best in my book, they both have a lot of power. I bought 8 Marshall collars six months ago, when doing this I talked to the tech at Marshall and reprogrammed the collars. I had the tech remove the tree switch so I can hunt in California. We then had the beep time shortened and a little more time in between the beeps. Doing this gave the collar 35-40 days of continuous beep life. If the dog down mode is used the collar will last for along time. Just a thought, if you like the idea Marshall can do whatever you need.

I have marshall, strike, wildlife and a few magnums and i like them in that order the Marshall have the strongest signal alot of people do not like the slower beep of the strike collars but you get use to it also if you use two short batteries in them they have a stronger signal instead of the one 3.9v long one and you do not have to send it back to get the batteries every time i send a wildlife in that just stops working due to batteries i lose it i have had 2 stolen in 2 years the guy up here says the crystals are gone or something and it will cost more than a new one to fix it the magnums are good the just do not have replaceable batteries i like my marshals the best good luck. the only system i know is Wildlife. i bought my box and collars ten years ago. they still work great despite massive abuse!
i would like to get the Tracker box, only because it is compact enough to go in the bush.
id like tree switches too, but i just tilt my antenna sideways when i think theyre treed.
get the tree swtches, i wish i did.

I just bought a new Johnson, Quick Track, Wildlife, and Marshall. I wanted to see for myself which worked the best. I will never buy another Johnson or Wildlife. Quick Track and Marshall are pretty much the same with the exception of the treeing switch. The Quick Track is too loose. In my opinion the Marshall is the best on the market.

Johnson has never let me down and batteries are never a worry . I have heard good things about kline , but cant find any in fo on them . I know guys who run Marshall as back ups or a "in the truck " collar . :D
