Steep rough country, and tough to hunt. I used to bear and lion hunt it in the 80's. I would suggest to stay over on the Pine Cr. Imnaha road side and out of the breaks of the snake unless you just like to just beat yourself up. There is alot of game there.

I've hunted the idaho side a lot more than the oregon side, there is a lot of bobcats, and usually plenty of lions in there. When you start catching bobcats in there regularly you can claim to have some real honest to god cat dogs. And I gurauntee you'll be in excellent shape

They swing the gates shut on top, three days before archery season starts. Thats at Warnock corral and I can't remember what they call the upper gate down the ridge from Magraw lookout.

You'd want a pony or mule after that to be on top. Big ol country so pack a lunch. I saw lots of bob & lontail tracks while archery hunting it.
