Hey guys I've been just reading here and not posting, there's lots of great info to be found, thanks for sharing your tips and knowledge, but now I have a question of my own.

I was curious about the actual gps unit of the Astro 320, how does it perform as a stand alone gps when used for other things besides tracking my dogs? I'm thinking for things like atv trail riding and elk hunting? I don't have a gps and I'm hoping my future Astro purchase will fill that need as well as dog tracking.

Thanks

Like brett mentioned, It should do just fine, I don't think there is any reason to buy two. Just don't lose your astro while ELK hunting or quad riding!

It's basically the same as the Map 62st but it has been tweaked to receive and track dogs.

But as far as I can think it should have all the features that the 62 has , The 62 just has a couple different layout for the Buttons that make it a little more easier to find waypoints and such where the Astro has buttons that show your dogs and dog list and such.

But You can do everything with the Astro that you can with the 62, you just might want to configure your menu to have some short cuts to features that you would use quickly on the 62st..

Hope that helps some.
