Just curious

I have been listening for quite some time now and am wanting to do a poll on how houndsmen as a group support each other in the fight to regain our rights.I'm certain this will cause some heated opinions and debate, but my soul purpose is to bring to light some rationality as to how we may be losing our hunting rights and what may be some causes as to why we cannot regain the ones we lost.
Throughout the years it has been clear to me that houndsmen are a divided group, groups that do not necassarily support one another in the political battles(bear, cougar, bobcat, coon hunter groups). It seems evident that as long as the anti's are not going after your group that many of you don't take it as a threat, and many do little to resist it.I myself think this has been one of our greatest downfalls in retaining our rights, not to mention the lack of participation in fighting legislation.
I'm just curious what others think on this political matter, what part they have played in supporting any legislature that is against the use of hounds to pursue any species, and what could we do differently.Once again my soul purpose is to bring to light some rationality as to how we may be losing our hunting rights and what may be some causes as to why we cannot regain the ones we lost.

I agree 100%....It's easy to figure out the problem, how to fix it is the hard part. Wish I had the answer but I don't.

The problems are many but I get your point. But it seems to me the answer should be simple...everyone should take a stand together and fight for their rights! To coin the phrase "United we stand,Divided we fall" is really ringing true these days, as I watch one by one as they take away the all the things I live for.
Presently I'm fighting a Bill in Oregon to keep our suction dredging rights as miners, along with trying to regain our rights to hunt cougar with hounds again. What's next?

Wish we had a national organization for hounds rather than just state ran clubs.

Hey Guys,
This is not just a new thing for hound hunting. This is an epidemic all across the hunting and fishing grid. I have been very active in the fishing debates here in Oregon, for many years. I have been to so many meetings and politcal fights that I couldn't name them all. When we go to these hearings, you will see a handful of fishermen but when the law goes against what they wanted, complaining is all you hear on the river. For one thing, you couldn't get 20 fishermen in a room and agree on anything, unanimously yet the opponents are coming in bus loads and are very organized. I remember when the law of baiting bear and running hounds came on the ballot. The thing that aggravated me more than anything was not the anti-hunters that voted against it because that is what makes America great. I don't agree with it but that is their vote. What put me over the edge is when I had guys on my boat that were "sportsman" and said they voted to shut it down. I was told so many times how unfair it is to run hounds or bait, for the animal. It was all I could do not to push them over. I tried to educate them that if there is something you don't like in hunting than don't do it because you are only helping to destroy all hunting. It all makes me sick that we cannot stick together on anything. I wish we could enjoy the outdoors without the compitition of just killing. Compound bow hunters hate cross bow, rifle hates muzzle loader, fair chase hates high fense and the list goes on. That is why we have a tough time winning any fight . I had a commissioner tell me that I had to keep in mind that the squeeky wheel will usually get the grease. I was doing a sportsman show in Minnesota and there were these t-shirts getting sold that said High Fence with a big red X through it. The guy selling them was also selling food plot seed. I went to him and asked him if he thought this was hypocritical and he said emphatically, No. I told him that if he put a big plate of brownies on his table, I wouldn't go far. I would not need a high fence to keep me in. He laughed and siad that I made a good point. I told him the point was that we sportsman have to stick together to keep our hertitage of the outdoors and there are far more greater fights to win than to fight eachother. There is different hunting because we are all different. That is why Campbell soup made 50 kinds of soup.
This is my 2 cents.
