I headed out this morning to set some trail cams up and on the way to the spot i was just walking in free casting and one of my two dogs opened up, about 7am He fiddled around and eventually came back over his own track so i figured a cat must have come through the day before but i went on and set the trail cam up along a rock bluff. On the walk out he opened in the same spot so i left the dogs on the mountain because i left everything at the truck over half mile away so i headed back for water and a gun. I rested up but could still hear them open every now again so walked back up the moutain and followed those dogs for another couple hours and then bam they were showing treed about 150 yards from my trail cam so i was starting to think something was up but they managed to catch a nice size tom in 73 degree heat on dry ground. It was my first dry ground cat. By the way free casting and walking over the mountains makes a fat guy tired.Caught him around 10:30 or eleven.

Guess I should throw in that I released this mature TOM to run another day, it was very hard to let a cat that big go.
