Perspective for all Western States

Please help Oregon by contacting our State Senators and ask them to support our hound hunting legislation at a time when we can't afford to hire these services out to the Federal Government. I did a paste below as an classic example where all of our States currently are with liberals in charge. Little long winded but it makes the case.
Thanks!
Oregon is broke and we are cutting much needed services. BUT WE HAVE THE $$$$$$ to continue to have the State department of fish and wildlife hire the Federal Government, USDA to hunt and kill cougar and we pick up the tab. Timber payments have been cut off and now we are had! I guess we measure economic prosperity by starving to death.

Today in Oregon, voters are deciding whether to raise their own taxes to make up for lost timber payments from the federal government. Hundreds of counties in Western states are facing a financial crisis due to the loss of timber payments. Property taxes usually pay for county services such as law enforcement. But counties in states from Colorado to California have vast national forests and can't collect taxes on that land. So Congress created timber payments to compensate them. Now the bill authorizing those payments has expired. Oregon received the largest payments, and more than half its counties face a budget and safety crisis now. Oregon Public Broadcasting reports that in Josephine County, the sheriff has laid of 80 percent of his deputies and no longer arrests people.

We have a lush garden of timber that once supported Oregon, now we measure prosperity in fire suppression. Logged or burned, either way it is gone! Better to have the jobs and tax base generated by a renewable resource. Any one pay attention to those burned off areas in Oregon? Nothing is regenerated for many more years than logged areas!
And we still hire out our management hunting?

Mr. Mike,
I have said before, I admire you willingness to stand up and fight for all Hound Hunters freedom and liberties!

Now if we can just have all hound hunter’s become more like the Mike Martell’s, Dale T, Tom A, Liz Odell’s, Natasha Hunts, and many more, (but not enough) we would defeat these lying manipulating crooks and expose them for what they truly are, just a big business making hoards of money by pulling on the heart strings of the uneducated public thinking they are saving Bambi and Smokey the Bear!!!!!!!!! Little do they know that all they did was take more liberty from Americans and give the Government more power over the people.

Now instead of a state generating revenue from ethical sport hunters, where animals were being selectively harvested by hunters that actually cared about the species they hunted. The animals are now just choked to death by aircraft cable, equipped with a dispatch spring and kill lock that is formed into a loop and attached to a stout earth anchor. It's then placed on heavy traveled game trails by Tax Payers hired animal hitmen. Those snares cant select males from females or cubs from adults or bears from Lions, they just kill whatever puts its head through the loop and forces it closed! Then the tax payers hired Animal Hitman tosses the strangled died game over the bank and left to rot, with an out of sight, out of mind, mentality!!!!!! They may be required to mark down the sex of the animal and/or photograph the strangled animal and mark it down in a Government logbook to prove their productivity and justify a position.

I want people to know I'm not anti USDA/APHIS but when they have full control over all game management and shut sportsmen and women out of the woods I have a problem with that.

Sorry Mike for venting on your thread but I get fired up and want to light a fire under everybody’s feet! Losing SB1221 and all the other attacks we have had lately on our Constitutional Rights just sickens me and it's time for Americans to WAKE UP, GET OUT OF THEIR COMMA & DEFEAT THESE ANTI- FREEDOM GRABBERS or we will lose it all!

I will leave this thread with my final message to Hound Hunter’s

The essence of tyranny is the Government doing something or ordering something that violates common law and common sense. A true sign of tyranny is when it’s an unjust weight and balance. Not only is it oppressing the general public but groups affiliated with the Government are exempt and benefit from the public’s loss.

An inch of Tyranny Gained is a Mile of Freedom Lost!!!!

I agree that really makes no sense but its what you get when you allow a vocal few to sway public opinion instead of facts and common sense. Lions will die either way but why waste them? They are a renewable resource if managed correctly. When you could be generating cash instead of spending... And from what I understand more are being killed by the government than were killed by hunters.

Arizona went back to year round lion season after a few years of down time in middle of the summer. I was talking to the local game warden and he said there was pressure from the Hsus Crowd so the season was put in place. While it was in place during the down time they were spending money doing depredations. Now a land owner with a lion killing his stock can again just go buy a tag over the counter and take care of business legally. Also statistically the hot dry summer months are when lions kill more stock...

Mr CRA
Feel free to vent on one of my post any time! Here is the bottom line, I lose nothing in this legislation, I'm permitted and have my private places to run my hounds that does not include you or the next hound owner and have been since 1983 in Oregon or eleven years prior to measure 18 in 1994. When one person has the right to do something and next person does not, that my friends is bull crap! Every day I see a young hunter up and coming and I reflect back on over forty years of doing what I enjoy doing and that hobby has been nothing but hounds, I don't go fishing, I don't golf, I hunt hounds, that's it!

Words do no justice, here is the bottom line. My district rep who has worked her butt off for me/us the last few years nailed it outright. She has stated, if a hound hunter was given a choice between a can of Copenhagen, a six pack of beer and gas for the truck to go hunting or donate to our cause the choice would be the first option and the heck with supporting the cause. Like a good pack of hounds, you get back what you put in. I look at my time fighting as repayment for all the years of care free hound hunting that 99% of the younger generation would call B.S. on the game that we once had to run in Oregon over the years and can only dream of.

Most have never been a part of the good times, days filled without a single gate obstructing our path or a hostile timber company who will have you arrested for trespassing for stepping one foot on its ownership but in the same breath have no problem accepting the aid of USDA on our backs to eradicate Big Game Mammals that belong to we the people, I get property rights, I don't get those same people thinking the own the game in the woods and the fish in the streams.

Tom Jr.

Enjoy Arizona while you can, its coming your way soon enough!

This fight is far from over. Until you convince me the intent of Measure 18 in 1994 was to eliminate private sport hound hunting and replace us with Government hounds for cougar and mechanically fired cable snares for bears as a management replacement for all of us on the backs of Oregonian citizens and sport hunter dollars, then its not over! I'm not anti USDA or Government, Government has one role and that is keep out of our way and allow us to work and recreate and so far they are doing a damn good job of killing both our jobs and our hunting.

CRA

I look forward to meeting you at the gathering and Tom Jr., sure hope you can attend as well.

Take Care guys and have a safe holiday weekend. Honor our troops this weekend and remember some gave all!

Mike
