Mike,

I think this great and you are doing more than anyone I know. Good luck and you will very likely need it as what I have seen and heard about Oregon hound/sport hunters they will not do to much to help. They talk a good talk but when it comes to standing up for their own rights they always have something else to do at that time. It is a true shame ! I will give you as much help as I can from another state and hope the locals get up off the couch and do something before it is to late.

Fyi, a founding member of oregon outdoor council is killing cougars as an independant agent and admits to helping usda wildlife services as well as having their backing. Ooc is NOT helping sport hunting. Quite the opposite!!

Oregon Outdoor Council is the best thing that has happen for hunters especially us hound men. We were the closes to getting cougar hunting back as we have ever been. ODFW and USDA wildlife services are just doing their jobs. It was and is the anti's that stopped bear and cougar hunting in Oregon. AS long as they can keep us divided and fighting among our selves they will keep winning. One person stopped the cougar bill this time. Ignorance is the enemy be it the uninformed public or the jealous hound man. We will never stop the killing of bear and cougar on damage control. Would it not be better to spent time and energy in a positive manner fighting to get them back then making comments that are just not true. OOC needs all our support not attacked. Dewey

Mike: Here is what is going to stop, all hound hunting in Oregon except by people working with the state and feds. The game commission wants cougar hunting back, their hands are tied. I have said it to you and I will say it here we as hound men will not get our hunting back only a professional that is working as a lobbyist with money behind them stand a chance.. The attitude of hound men has gotten us where we are at and we are digging the hole deeper. You have a great commitment to getting our hunting back. I admire it but feel that your energy could be better spent. The government and private property owners will never quit killing game, it is the only option they have. If I was a young hound man I would look at working for the government or private owners if you want to be able to hunt hounds in the future. Dewey

I am not for big government anybody that really knows me knows that. I am just saying that is the way it is and most of the ODFW want to have sport hunting. They are doing the studies that will show how cougar are effecting our wildlife and livestock. They can not say what they feel about cougar in public they have to be neutral. The hound men had a chance to get cougar hunting back on the second vote and chose not to by going for all or none. We have been fighting with who ever for almost 20 years, how has that been working out for us? We were close this time because of how we went about it and who we had make the attempt. The only way we are going to make a difference in the way this government works is to take the money out of it. No body gets a 6 figure income and every body get the same money for a campaign. No professional politician. As long as we have people that see things and believe different then us with unlimited money we are not in a good place. They have spent 40 years getting to where we are at now while we did very little except go hunting. If I had my way you could take care of two birds with one stone. Less people and no politicians.
