Permission to Hunt

An older fella and two young men pull up to a farmers house to ask permission to go deer hunting. The older man says,
"I'll go ask you two stay here, I know this ole boy pretty well, shouldn't be a problem."
Upon visiting with the farmer the man gets permission to hunt but the farmer asks for a favor in return.
"could you put my old Donkey down for me. I've had him over twenty years and can't bear to do it my self. I'll bury him if you just shoot him for me."
The hunter go's back to the pick-up and grabs his rifle. The younger fellers ask him what he's doing to which the man replies,"The old bastard told me no, I'm gonna shoot his damn donkey!"
The hunter walks behind the barn where the donkey is standing in a corral and puts him out of his misery. Shortly after the gun shot he hears three more shots fired. Running around the barn he finds the two younger hunters, guns in hand.
"What the hell are you guys doing!?"
"Well we figured since you were gonna get the donkey we got his milk cow and two barn cats!"
