If you are talking about smokey river diamond jim then I know someone who hunted with the dog. He said diamond jim was an excellent cat dog - absolutely cat crazy. He also said d.jim wasn't very much to look at. He must have been very good because most of the smokey river peds I've seen go back to him heavy.

My dogs go back to this hound several times but most recently thru Smokey River JBells Cheif. I had an own son of Cheif who was an absolute coon crazy nut. Too "cooney" to be a good bobcat hound. He could run a track pretty well and tree his head off but you could not get a dead coon away from him as he would take "lock jaw".
Old Diamond Jim had spots but did not have as much ticking as most blue dogs. I have heard that some folks suspected a little "running dog" back there somewhere. There have been some tremendous hounds come from this line of dogs, dogs that were not just competition coonhounds, dogs with a lot of diversity.
