Proud To Be AMERICAN "EH"

We were doing a tour in Nice France last year. We noticed 2 couples we met the night before on the same tour as us. I asked them "I thought you were AMERICAN" ?? They reconfirmed they were. I asked them "Then why are you wearing the CANADIAN flag pin that CANADIANS wear when abroad" They replied," We didn't want anyone here to know we were AMERICAN". After the conversation with them I noticed I myself was wearing my Orlando T Shirt, with an AMERICAN flag on the front. I'm Canadian. I also wore it the following day on another tour.

Chris,

You should have asked them if anyone in America was holding a gun to their head and forcing them to stay!! And I as an American would also have told them. If your unhappy or ashamed of the country that has done so much for so many. PACK UP THEIR SHIT AND GET THE HELL OUT, AND DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT THEM IN THE ASS ON THE WAY OUT!!

Take care, Willie

fejr, we were the only CANADIANS on that tour. The rest were AMERICANS. Many hunters from YOUR country were on this trip.

If there was so many Americans there, why would they hide being from America? I mean if the rest were Americans like you claimed. It was probably a bunch of tree hugging city folk from California, Oregon, New York or the coast of Washington. I personally dont know any self respecting American hunter that would go to France.

ferj, you'd be surprised!! It was just the two couples wearing the pins. I was okay with it.

Perhaps they were just afraid for the safety of their families .When Americans travel abroad they instantly become targets for the nutjobs who hate us! France has a very large Muslim population and they would like nothing better than to kill some Americans .Of course they're not all like that but some certainly are!

Didn't have a pin or ever felt like wearing a pin to give my nationality away. Not once did I feel threatened like some in the group did. Went up to a scenic lookout by a tram. When everyone got back on the tram to go back down, there was a commotion in the first car. It was a French tourist who refused to sit with americans in the same car as him. The French tourist was kicked off the tram, he had to wait for the next one. We had problems such as this quite often on this trip.

Would the french tourist be OK with a German sitting in the same tram? You'd think they'd have a bigger objection to that, but then again that would make sense. It must be a lot to ask for just a little respect for the 60,000 buried on french soil.

Nolte,

When you hit the nail on the head you sure drive it home!! The cold hard truth is, if it weren't for Americans the sorry SOBS would be speaking German. And I guess like always. The truth is always hard to chew fine enough to swallow. And seems like pure hell!!!!

Take care, Willie

It seems like everyone hates the good ole USA,that is until they need our help. Then we usually give it in the form of our money or the blood of America's warriors! Money we can't afford to give and lives we can't afford to lose and yet they still hate us!

The only reason that I brought this up is that this was the discussion in the lodge the other night. There were 15 hunters here. I mentioned it on this thread for discussion. I hope I didn't offend anyone!!!

Exactly right. I gave 8 years of my life to the Army. Been to more than one place that hated us. Until they needed our money or protection.
