What is with the grumpiness of hound hunters? When ever I see a hunter or rig I don'in your town I always try to be nice smile nod and say hi but damn so hunters are a bit on the grumpy side aren't we all out there together basically its a dying sport and you can't even be nice with your other Houndsmen?

Keep being nice to others!! Kindness kills buttwipes. Some people are just caught up in their self importance. They will realize one day that they really do not matter! LOL

Good luck to you and always treat people the way you want to be treated. If they do not return the favor. It is their problem, not yours.

grumpy dog guys??? what do you mean grumpy ? heck im the nicest guy I know lol....anyway kid you did your part if he don't want to do his part then why bother??around these parts you will wear out your arm waving or nodding its almost a crime to not say howdy when you pass by

If they won't acknowledge your greeting you're much better off NOT knowing them.It says a lot about a person who won't display common courtesy.

I learned alot too, I found fellow hunters that want to help you out and i also found hunters that see you as competition and wont talk dogs and there are hunters that ask you for gps coordinates to the lion you didnt catch so they can "teach you how to catch it" only to find out they caught it the day before you went back out and they killed it out to a client, hunters that want you to find the track then call them and so on, I heard alot of bs that i had to pick through. I had a cat located but couldnt make it come together and a guy i didnt even know from a town near me contacted me to show me some things but he took me to his area and didnt want info on the cat i had loctated, i promised i would not hunt his area unless he is with me and i have never went back, there are some good guys out there but some of them are gun shy from being screwed by a so called fellow houndsman that they are nervous to help unless they know you. Houndsmen are hard to figure out. When you start catching game around or in "their area" then they really start talking crap. Good luck

Its not that I'm in need of help and want to ask a lot of questions most of the time I'm not even in the woods ill be in the middle of town at a store see someone I don't recognise but they have a box in there truck I have mine in the truck just about 99% of the time (only comes out if I really need the bed) so they know I have hounds but still act like a dick is it really that hard to smile back I know I'm a women in a male sport but damn put a smile on your face and nod back! And I do notice its the 50 and under crowd who tend to be that way the older guys always acknowledge and ALWAYS have a few stories to tell!

Maybe us older guys are smarter???LOL

I agree all the way! Ive never figured out why some folks are friendly and some are not, in the dog hunting world. Some of these wrascles just cant help it I suppose. I belive I meet a whole lot more friendlier and enjoyable folks than I do rude ones. Id rather be around Hound hunters than any other types of folks on the planet. Christian Houndsmen is even better!!!!!!!!!!

I am not hounding yet.. still learning as much as I can. I can say as a big game hunter I am always happy to meet new hunters and to shoot some shit. This paast bow season I was onto the buck of a lifetime. Trying to get at a high country mule deer buck with a bow is not an easy thing.. been at it for weeks. I asked an old timer for some help, slipped on where the buck was living. next morning I hear a smokepole go off.. walk around the knoll only to find my buck dead to the same old man who had given me "advice".
not the same situation but likely similar.. I will no longer give out any information on locations of animals..

That's like showing a buddy your honey hole and asking him not to tell anyone else .Then two weeks later his other friends start showing up.The hunting went from great to poor in a short time.

I should clarify my last post here .Just because you don't want to tell someone your secrets or where you hunt is no excuse to not be friendly to a fellow houndperson.You might just make a new friend .

Agree completely houndsmen nead to hang together to keep this way of life alive and I don't see the point in being mad at a guy for enjoying the same life style you enjoy if a guy don't wanna shoot the shit that's fine but atleast return the curtucy wave to a fellow houndsmen. Just my opinion. Happy huntin
