Wow..loved it. That's a better video than most modern day videos. I'm assuming everything had to be taped off a tripod stand or similar. Thats one tough old bugger.

Nice! What strikes me is the energy that the man seems to have and exert.

Good post, MIke! Jay Bruce's book, "Cougar Killer" is a good read too. Never thought Id see archival video relating some of the stories and knowledge from the book.

That was a great old clip and Jay Bruce was certainly a go getter. I was only able to watch about 30 minutes or so on you tube and then it stopped . It was listed at over an hour long. Was anybody else able to get the whole thing to load?

Interesting note Jay said they felt there were 600 lions in the state of California at that time. Today leading cougar Biologist Maurice Hornaker recently stated in an article in Time Magazine(July 2013)that he felt there were between 15,000 and 20,000 lions in California, and that the national total was over 100,000. More lions now than before Lewis and Clark made their expeditions.

He mentions Sespe Creek area about 5 minutes in. I've hunted that same country years ago in the 70 and 80s. So was that a Garmin he's running on his dogs?

It's actually only about 41 minutes the rest of the time it is just a blank screen. Great video enjoyed watching it.
