Robin powel brought this up. I think it would be very fun. We could charge 20 bucks a dog to enter. We would half to figure out a scoring method. 1st rig 1 pt first locate 1 pt. Extra. If someone wants to take the lead on this count me in. I will enter 4 or 5 dogs just for the fun of it.

Could the next Nance/s Little Topper be a blue dog from Oregon, a running dog cross from Cresswell, a young hound bred by Werner & Padgett or surprise a Cur, English, Plott, B&T, full running dog, redbone or God forbid a register competion walker hound, worst yet a hound that has been bred and owned by a bear hunter, from out of no where? Maybe Bob Marosock, would be willing to share his wisdom on the scoring system. Only hunted with him a couple times, impressed how well he read strange hounds. Don/t take this too serious, could be a lot of fun or a disaster ! Mixing that many hounds may also need a prize for the pack that catches the most coyotes Maybe old Pepper might even win, since the rest were off on a yote. Al

JC just tried to lighten the mood with that first post. This could be a very interesting hunt, , sure could help those with outstanding cat hounds, quite the critics. Bet your last dollar if Lloyd Basey was still here, he would be the first to pay an entry fee. I would guess Harold Middleton would be next in line& can/t believe Mark could resist, he just seems to have fun at everything. Also for sure C. John Clay would be there. If you get serious about this, for sure would talk with Bob Marosock. Al

I was hopeful my suggestion would generate more interest . I was/am going to enter my ole blue dog if we can get something going.I would like to see any dog that can tree a cat entered. If someone could come up with a great idea for the grand prize that would probably create a lot of interest and support.

Al, I dont know if you're planning on competing or not but if you want to be a spectator i will throw big n blue in the back seat and you can ride shotgun with a heated seat! My dogs would fail miserably in competition hunts. Their ears are to short, some drift, some are mouthy, some over run a track, sometimes they take the back track, some of em have white pads and no black on the roof of their mouth, sometimes i go to trees and cant find a cat, they are all running dog crosses, most of em are young, and the list goes on. However if there is ever a dog food eating contest COUNT ME IN! I could compete in that lol

I don't know if I would have a good enough ear for such a competition.
Take care, Willie

Mark I had hoped to borrow old buddy, but heck he hitchhiked on a coyote sunday so that is out. The one black dog I own don/t tree, so she/s out. Now riding alone in a heated seat sure sounds nice, my old Toyota used to have a heated seat, think the heating element went out, has not worked since it was new. Anyways, that's what the previous owner told me, its only got about 300 thousand on the odomer. Complained to Toyota, should not have gone out so fast, they said tuff s...! Willie on the serious side, long years ago I got a interested in competition coon hunting. Went to a few hunts, did not take me long to realize, it took a decent hound to hunt two hours and stay on the plus point side, if you r hound worked & quick to open old coon scent. That was when I first realized, why the walkers had the nose and open mouths bred out of them. I could have really got hooked on that, had I lived in the Willamette Valley. Ray Mears judged some of those cast, Lonnie Mears is a son of Ray. Ray must have been good at what he did, believe he told me he had judged in a UKC world champion cast. Recall most did not like draw him as a judge, he was quick to minus a hound. Actually believe I have a second place Oregon State Championship trophy setting in the back closet, and even had plus points. My claim to fame as a coon hunter. Al

jc me and youre dad talked about something like this years ago except was thinkin of opening a registry for the awesome dogs out there and doin it kinda like pkc hunts. don't remember why we never went far with the idea but I remember getting hung up with figuring out how to keep from pissing matches over which dog opened first. seems like it would have to be a two, maybe three dog cast? anyway, hope you work it out and I know if anybody can it would be you.
