One last cat for Hammer

Sorry for posting such a post, but I wanted to remember Hammer and Hunter. Today is the last day I got to hunt for bobcat season. We started about 2 A.M. and bagged a coon before we met up with the rest of the party. Just before we met up with them my box sounds off and Hammer hits the road running. He's giving it a lot of mouth right from the start so I turn in my young dog. They move it out super fast down the mountain. The cat headed straight for a cliff where he usually disappears. My dog must have been hot on him because he treed up right at the edge about half mile from the strike 20. When I made it down there we couldn't find the dogs or hear them. The gps said they were down the cliff, so my girlfriends son climbed down by rope and found them. The tree that the cat was in had given way in a rock slide and they fell down about 100 feet were he found them dead. I only run 2 dogs so this was everything to me. Hammer was 10 years old and hunter was 1 1/2. Thanks for reading and I hope they rest I peace. At least hammer got to get one last cat.

Sorry for your loss. Losing a dog is not easy . At least it was doing what they loved.

That is unbelievable bad luck but if you hunt hounds very long those kind of things happen.I know that's no consolation but i'm sorry for your loss and hope you find another one like ole Hammer.

Yes, glad Hammer got in 10 years. Hopefully he never got too many of the frustrations that old dogs face. I hate it that you lost your whole pack. I hope the next 10 years turns out even better than the last ten for you some how.

Thanks all for the replies. Hammer did catch his share of game. He had the biggest hart for hunting, he never gave up or left a bad bear. Starting over from scratch is a hard thing to do. He did die doing what he loved and that's a great thing. Again thanks for your support. Joe
