JC,

I sure wish more folks would get on here about if they are coming or not....it sure helps with the planning. I know you all will have plenty of food no matter how many show up, but it sure helps to have an idea.

If all who were there last year show up and bring just one more person, this could be the biggest Bobcat Hound Gathering ever seen in North America. The South Texas Gathering had almost 200 people the 1st year I went. I hear the old "World Bobcat Hunt" in New England and Canada would draw close to a Hundred Houndsmen. Mr. Don says the Oklahoma Bobcat Rendezvous had about 35 or so attend. So if the Folks from CA, OR, WA, ID, and NV realize what the Texans and Arkies do, that this is the FINEST Gathering of Hounds Men and Women ever there will be a good Crowd.

Good Food (and lots of it), good conversation, GOOD Friends (New and Old), exchange of Ideas and Hunting Invites....well it would be hard to get any better than that.

I don't think I'll make it this year.. I've been trying to figure out if I could squeeze it in, but I think with the Oregon Outdoor Council's Predator forum in Albany the same day I have to make a decision.

I really enjoyed meeting and chatting with folks but when I sit down and think about it OOC has done more for us to get our hunting rights back and with all the legislatures showing up I think it's really important that we support them and what they have and plan to do for our hunting.

I also important that we show the legislatures and Senators that we are organized and want our hunting rights back, and we are ready to support those that are willing to fight for us.

So regrettably I'm going to have to decline the Bobcat Gathering this year. I wish it wasn't on such a busy and important day for hunting rights in Oregon or I wish the two would have been organized better and joined forces.

I'll send some shirts and give away and hope you guys have fun.

Buddy,

Your not the only one doing what you are. Glad folks are going to either event. Wish it had. All worked out

I totally concur!

I think the Gathering is going to be fun but our hunting rights to me trump the Gathering.....I'm the one guy that keeps pressure applied on our politicians on a daily basis and no excuses on my end for not making an appearance in Albany. My District 17 Representative Sherrie Sprenger & Senate District 9- Fred Girod have been in the trench with all of us since the first 2009 Legislative campaign began. I asked Sherrie to join us at one of our recent hound club meetings and she graciously accepted without hesitation and accepted a Fern Ridge Tree Hound Club T-Shirt.....Even if neither attends, a full slate of Legislators are invited to attend....I suspect our Linn County Commissioners will also be present. Commissioner Lindsey was also a guest speaker in our Meeting and I look for Lindsey-Tucker and Nyquist to also be present....All three want us hunting our hounds for Cougar and Bear....For those who don't follow politics. Their is a National association of Commissioners being formed with a lot of clout once complete and our support needs to be with them as well!

One thing we need to do better in the years to come is get our dates squared away so we have no conflicts of interest....I feel we have lost so much ground but have some serious proposals on the table for next February in the Oregon State legislature that we need a strong presence at the Cougar Symposium.

Oregon Outdoor Councils Stan Steele is brilliant and saved our bobcat hunting hides last week in Salem...Literally!....This man lives for our hunting rights. The level of dedication and personal family time lost is immeasurable......He is highly respected by the ODFW Board of Commissioners and Oregon State Legislature and deserves our total support....We have folks that can testify any given day but Stan Steele articulates like no other lobbyist.

Fellows, it is a Shame that SOME ONE did not snap to the Date.....J C has had this planned for a year.....when was the Oregon Outdoor Council meeting put together?

It is a shame not every one can be at Myrtle Point, but each person has to do what their Conscience dictates!

Good Luck to those who go deal with the Politicians and Wildlife Agency Officials!

Last year. A lot of folks showed up Friday night, bulk of people was there Saturday then it was clean up Sunday. I think its like 3 hours travel time Albany to Mrytle Point but I could be mistaken.
