Training season opens this Tuesday, July 1st. Curious how many fellow houndsmen will be hitting the woods this week? Weather looks as good as it can get for July, mid 70's for highs and dipping down into the low to mid 50's for Tuesday through Thursday.

The woods seem like a wet mess and more storms coming, but Tuesday morning should be a blast bears are hitting the baits good and the dogs got the itch to go

Same here GVBEAR. Woods are flooded here too, but we won't mind as long as we are out there.

Running the big national forest up their? I am looking at some areas just west of you to possibly start running. Used to hunt north east part of state but in laws have a place in stone lake so im looking to run that area now so I can kill two birds with one stone. hunt and keep the wife happy.

Yesterday I saw a small bear cross the road on my way home from work. Had to get my son to baseball but still loaded our pups in the truck to see if they would rig where it crossed on our way to his game. Get back to were I saw it cross and there it was back on the road! Pups could smell it and whimpered to get out, but soon they saw it and went crazy! Good to see them so excited. They may become bear hounds yet!?!?

We have baits in the forest, but mostly ran paper company land. However a different company bought the land and locked the gates. The forest is loaded with wolves. We had a couple encounters last year, and lost one hound to them. Not sure what is west of us in regards to groups, wolf situation etc... Good Luck!

Have not even been out yet. Went up to bear camp on the 4th expecting the whole crew only to find an empty camp. Apparently there was some sort of dispute, and now one guy is hunting with another crew. 2 guys are bait sitting, a couple guys quit hunting, and a couple of will have to take a year off, and try to find another crew. Good Luck to all of you who are getting out.

Some decent chases. No trees. Lot of nothing too. Seems like the weather, humidity, and barometric pressure is kind of messing things up where we are at. Either that or all of are dogs went to hell in a year. Better sell them and get plotts...
