This coming winter I will be holding a cat dog contest.
rules ;
1. One dog hunted at a time .
2. there will be witnesses/ judges on the hunt . must see the cat in the tree or caught on the ground.
3. the hunt will start at 6 pm on a Friday night . and end at 2pm on sunday. There will be a mandatory 12 hours of not hunting during this period. for rest of the dog. And hunters that don't hunt at night.
4. I have 3 locations to hunt and that is the only places u are allowed to go. The judges will be your guide.
5. Each dog will cost an entry fee of 100.00 . Winner takes all.
6.All entry fees will need to be in before nov. 20th. 2014.
7. The competition will start the opening weekend and end the second to last weekend of cat season.
8.Who ever catches the most cats in the allowed time will be the winner. IN case of a tie we will have a hunt off the last weekend of season . if they tie again the winnings will be split.
9. If there are more dogs entered than there are weekends available then there will be 2 sets of hunters hunting the same weekend. The 3 areas are big enough for that. The judges will make sure the hunts are not at the same location at the same time.
10. There will be no harvesting of any cats unless they are caught on the ground. absolutely no rerunning a cat u left in a tree.
11. if there are more than 1 cat in the same tree it only counts as 1 cat.
this is for fun and for serious bragging rights . So lets put your money where your mouth is.

Going to be interesting to see how many people put dogs in. And really interesting to see what breed wins it.

If a dog trees a fox, does that does that dog get points,or does he get scratched? Al

Sounds to me like the dog that catches the most cats wins. Catching all other species would just take away from catching cats.

Jc ,if i understand you right each dog (entered ) will have one weekend to hunt? I assume those areas are around Powers and Myrtle Point ?IF it's as fair and equal to each dog as possible i will commit to entering now.

JC, you need to have the guides pack video cameras. After the hunt have it all composed into a video to sell at the gathering. I'm sure there is someone on here that can edit the videos.

J.C., I think they should be blind folded till they get there, Then given a Garmin with "NO" Map. Maybe Mark or Tom Barns will take them to a spot also. LMAO... Just Saying???
1Bludawg, Glad to see some Blueticks in the contest!!, It would have put a smile on Dads face.
Also would like to see some other breeds, I know they're out there, so lets hear'em run!!

How many rigs allowed on each hunt? How about spectators??

JC THIS IS YOUR HUNT SO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO RUN AS YOU SEE FIT. HOWEVER, I THINK IT WOULD BE NEAT AND HAVE MORE MERIT IF THE TOP THREE OR FOUR WERE PLACED IN A HUNT AND CAST IN THE FINALS WITH SOME SORT OF SCORING SYSTEM AS USED IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP COON HUNTS.WHO KNOWS, YOU MAY BECOME FAMOUS FOR STARTING THE WORLD CHAMPION BOBCAT HUNT IN OREGON. THANKS AL

I got a dog I would add, one problem she doesn't strike off the box and aint going to road her all night. So what about having judge's bring a box dog just for these dogs. Sure there will be people who would add a dog but cant for some reason...

the dog can run what it wants too. its how many cats are caught that matters.
Not going to mix dogs . That would only create problems.
One of the dogs im entering wont strike merlo. If your dog cant hunt all night roading maybe u should get it in shape.
All hunts will be held in coos co.
