My 14 month old hound was a pig when it came to eating his dog food, but for the last month he has really slowed down and now is only eating half the amount I used to give him, which isn't very much. (2 cups a day if that and i used to give him 2 cups twice a day)Is it the heat that we are having this summer or is it that he is maturing and doesn't need as much?

Either and or both. How does his weight look?

I agree with bearkiller. Have you changed the dog food? Our dogs seem to do better on less food in the hotter months of the year.

thanks for the posts. Glad to know that it is normal. His weight is fine and he seems to be doing ok
