bought an 8 week old white male bluetick, a couple weeks ago. His littermate was a female, she looked exactly like the common looking older bluetick but she was only 8 weeks as well. Now this white bluetick, you can see some faint ticking under his white coat that's starting to come through but he was born 4/13/8 so he's now a little over 3 months and he's still pretty white. Just wondering at what age he'll start ticking up and get his blueish colored coat. Also why would his sister already be ticked up and blue and he wasn't???

The white color phase bluetick use to be fairly common and the old timers called them SPORTS. Some will have faint ticking mixed into it and traditional black body spots or head with tan trim as well. I had a double Hammer 5 bred male that was white as you desribed and I also owned his full brother littermate who was a dark bluetick color. It is just a genentic thing that certain strains have in them . Old diamond Jim from the Mountain Music line threw a lot of light colored or sport colored dogs and a pretty sizeable number of those that had a glass or blue eye as well. I even saw that breeding many gneration UKC purple ribbon bred throw a redtick in the litter now and then. It's all in there going back to the english hound. Motley's Missouri Major one of the first foundation stud of the Treeing Walker Breed showed Jocassee and Vaughn breeding in his papers so like I always said some of those first dogs that Lester Nance and Raymond Motley registed had some blue grandparents. LOL!
