What would be the outcome if one were to breed a medium to hot nosed coonhound to a cold to ice cold bloodhound? All in an attempt to start a new breed of cat dog? Now, I realize that there are many, many other attributes to look for in breeding for a top notch cat dog. But wouldn't this be a good starting point?

you know there are things as cold nosed coonhounds. Some lines breed specifically for ice-cold noses

Well, I wouldn't be breeding for just a cold nose. I'd like to start a bloodline or breed from the ground up, so to say. I'd like to see other qualities in these dogs as well like, for instance, I personally like a sit down tree style, Which I would endeavor to breed into my dogs as well. I personally like a big bawl mouth dog. And there's some other qualities I would breed into my dogs. An easy handling dog and a dog that has brains, to name a few.
I've had dogs that I couldn't even teach to keep quit in a kennel, so brains is important!

CD80, you have a VERY long, difficult, EXPENSIVE time ahead to accomplish your goal. It is most likely that you will shorten the process and save much disappointment to find someone in your area who has already been through the process with a good degree of success. Get a couple of pups from them and go from there. Good luck (you are going to need it).

if you want to make a cross like that get ahold of lanny de lee in new york. they work out well if the cross is right but he would be the one to talk to and probably knows more about it then anyone. but try not to breed a hot nosed dog to anything if you want a cold nosed dog. you should also look into a nance bred walker dog they are pretty good cat dogs i hear.
