hey fellas,

I have a question about a 14 month old dog. i went and ran the dog yesterday, his 2nd time out. He was gone for 4 hours or so, running anything i dunno but when i caught him he (well he came back) he was pretty much burnt out. i noticed thismorning hes obviously pretty stiff but he wont put weight on his back left leg. is this something i should be concerned about?? or is it likely just sore muscles..

oh he wasnt limping or hurt looking when he was caught up

What king of shape he in/ have you been roading him or has just been sitting in the kennel? Like our selves if all you do is lay around then one day get out and run for 4 hours it's going to hurt.

For only his 2nd time out 4hrs is a lot for a dog that is not in shape .Being stiff is the muscles , Not wanting to put weight on his back leg is more then likely he has slipped a pad. You could doctor him up but he will still be soft and out of shape when he's all healed up. Best thing will be to slowly get him in shape once he is healed up then keep him that way by hunting him.

thanks for the replys guys, i went out and rubbed him down this afternoon. he didnt seem to have any noticeable places with pain( didnt whine or yelp when i applied pressure). and had full range of motion in the leg so its not a joint i dont wouldnt think. so i took him for a little walk to loosen him back up he started putting a little weight on the bad leg but obviously still bothered him like you say ill rest him up and go a little easier on him next time out
