found this track the other day, I first thought it was two cats but for sure was only one...kept up this pattern for 50 yards or so then started walking again, dont think i have ever seen a pattern like this, not sure if it was loping or what, but thought it was interesting

That would be either an overstep or understep walk. Depends on if the hind foot steps in front of the front foot (overstep) or behind the front foot (understep). An overstep walk is faster walk and the understep walk is a slower walk. The usual pattern we see is a direct register track. Occasionally you see a direct register with extra long stride. That would be a direct register trot.

Best I can tell it's overstep. Bigger track is front foot.

Iam no expert, but I think those lion tracks are made when the lion is walking briskly.

Younger lion I'd bet and they do that hippity hop bounce two fronts two hinds tail kicked up I have seen subs do this as they shadow their mother off to the sides sort of goofing around.

Don't think you are always dealing with a mature lion just because the track looks pretty good sized. Some subs end up with a bigger track then their mother while they are still traveling with her or close to her. As they move along they may at times be a good ways I mean hundreds of yards apart as they weave thru their range.

Fun. From right to left. Pretty sure first is a LF track, then looks like LR, then RF, then both Lefts,,,,,,,,, then both rights. Definitely a smaller track or huge tire track. Is a large tire anyway. A confusing track for sure. Any other guesses?
