? on decoy dogs

just wanted to ask you all that use decoy dogs a few ?
when you are set up calling have you ever had the dog pick up on game coming in before you did
and since we hunt coyote just when the furs are good that late nov to earl or mide feb would a decoy dog be any good at that time I have heard both yes and no so I was hopping maybe someone who has used them could tell me
