Does anyone in Virginia still hunt and breed a fairly pure strain of these dogs. Never seen one that I know of. Reading alot about them lately an hearing about there grit has got my intrest. Not looking for anything right now as I just had a litter out of my own dogs just wanting references for the future an would like to raise an try one once to see it for myself.

Mike Martell on here is the man to talk to about this strain of walkers. Very knowledgable, and knows where to find the good ones.

I have moved on beyond the White Cloud line of Walkers.
I have had the great fortune to travel the country and hunt behind many hounds, hounds that most people would be proud to own. I have even spent one winter hunting with Roger Holland himself... I have hunted in many States and regions with different climates and weather conditions and ask a lot from my hounds...I seldom hunt more than two or three hounds for all tree game. I think it all boils down to what your expectations are for the type and style hound you hunt or want to hunt. To my way of thinking, hounds are like horses, if 90% were culled? the world would be better off!

I would suggest asking for lots of references on the man selling puppies, this can be said about all breeds and strains. Like the bobcat section, there are contributors who seldom if ever catch bobcats, but sure know how to write an article, a smart man would take all the hype with a grain of salt!....Just because you see it on the internet or in Houndsmen magazine, don't take for granted your problems will be solved by the purchase of a pup or older hound!

Probably best to defer this one to Jerry Layfield from Bellville Ohio who submitted the article for Houndsmens magazine, nice write up by the way Jerry about John Lastockin in Christina Lake B.C. Canada. I spent many, many days hunting with John and can tell you, the man is a real deal houndsmen....John lives to hunt and his Joe dog is as nice a hound as you will ever hunt behind.

Thanks for the info I'd much rather have a pup then a grown dog that way I can try my best to make him wat I want. Jus would like to try one he either will get it done or he want so what's there to lose. I'm satisfied with what I have now they get it done an look good (to me) doin it jus always lookin for somethin new to try.

Mike martell, you said u have moved beyond the white cloud line... Just curious what you found was lacking in the white cloud line? I have never owned a white cloud, nor hunted with one just wonded....
