Just curious has anyone tried this cross? And how did they turn out? I would think you could get some cold nosed fairly fast hounds from this! My buddy told me that he thought about trying it! How was their grit too? Thanks!

I know out here in the west guy's have been making that cross for years. Some are good and some are not so good. I think it's the guy's who are controlling the breeding program that I would look at first. I have ran into to many guy's that are more interested in trying to make a living in the hound world breeding and selling dog's. When they realize that they are not making money at it you usually see there stuff for sale and they are getting out of the sport. The breeder who is dedicated to making a superior hound and making sure the pup's are going to good hunter's and looking not to make a buck selling culls to people. Sam a good friend of mine that lives around here does, now they aren't just some walker crossed with some old bluetick , he took some walker stock that has a touch of cur in it and crossed that with some smokey River/Cameron bred blueticks and has had great success with them, he is breeding the blueticks down to about an 1/8th or so, these dogs are bred for and ran on hog, he sent one up north to run bear with, from all accounts that I've heard on the dog he is one heck of a bear dog, but the again I hunt hogs so can't really judge what a good bear dog is.
