Rigging from the hood

Does anyone use a hood mounted rig rack that they would be able to share some pictures of? I wanted to try building one as I already have a cap for the bed of my truck and I think building a small rig platform to mount on the hood might be a cheaper option then scrapping the cap and getting a full on dog box/rig rack combo. I am mostly interested in seeing how you managed to attach it to your vehicle and how you keep it from wearing the paint clean off the hood.

Any other ideas are more than welcome too.

I once used a luggage rack that had suction cups on it for the hood of my 1974 Ford Bronco .
Some guys just attach a piece of carpet to the hood with a eye bolt through the hood to chain the dogs to . You might not want to do that with a new pickup though . lol

There are hood rugs custom made in a couple shops in California. They do not require any holes in your hood and protect the hood. If you search hard enough here on BGH you will find the contact info.

Probably should mention that some law enforcement officers in some places consider rigging from the hood illegal.

Why?

Obstructed vision; wreckless endangerment; distracted driving; lane deviation; cracked windshield; burned out tail light; animal cruelty; expired tabs; warrant for your arrest;...

I don't know why. But if they don't like it, they will think of something.

I never had a problem. And actually can not remember ever seeing a law enforcement officer while I was rigging. But I was warned about it by a Wisconsin hunter.

I always loved rigging on the hood, because it is so much fun to watch the dogs.
So much information is lost by not being able to watch them.
