Does any body hunt with great Danes what are they good for besides replacing the family pony . They look houndish

They used to be a type of hunting dog but now days they are good for nothing except companionship eating a lot and vet bills .

In the old days they were boar hounds. As stated now days to big and ungainly to be much use. Xed with staghound They make a tough hunting dogs with a fair bit of speed a lot of dane xs used over here as pigdogs in the old days the x I mentioned were used as Kangaroo dogs. they bring a good thick hide strength and a good nose. they can be cranky pricks at times.

The ones I've seen that have been crossed into stags were pretty growly also.
