I believe you have to have a guide in BC to hunt anything unless you're a resident. There are probably a few guides that will host you on a lynx hunt but you'll most likely have to spring for a guided hunt, which means the outfitter will have to be there throughout the hunt. You might email http://www.bearcatoutfitters.com and see if they have any interest? They're a great group of guys with a good area and run up near Kamloops. Good luck and it should be fun...

most of the outfitters up in canada will require you to pay just like a normal client would even if you do have your own hounds. Understandable since they have what we don't.....lynx hunting.

A guide or outfitter has to still do all the things for a client with hounds he does for one without hounds. And let's face it, if the guide doesn't get to run his dogs he probably should charge the hunter extra because that's probably why he's doing what he does for a living.

I was looking in one of the gift shops in Juneau the other day and they had a fur shop on one end. The hide that impressed me most was a huge lynx hide, and spread out as large as a small lion hide--wow! I'd sure like to see the dead photos of that cat and hear the story from that man who took it.....it was most likely killed in a trap but what a catch that would have been over hounds.

with all the game those fellas take in that country every year I am amazed how they continue to get true trophies in the tree year in and year out.

I'd wonder the same thing Spanky if I hadn't driven from Utah to Fairbanks Alaska years ago. What a stretch of undeveloped, untouched lands. Northern Bristish Columbia, the Yukon and Alaska......mile after mile of the things we all love--bears! A guy can drive for three days and never get bored, no houses, roads and hardly any people. I'd think the biggest thing wasn't finding big trophy animals to chase but finding my way home after getting too deep in the bush!
