"Safest" Hound Hunting State

With the political climate being what it is today regarding hound hunting culture across the country, we all know it is only a matter of time before the anti groups may come after your hound hunting in your state. Even states today that have fairly generous hound hunting laws in the west could come under fire in the near or distant future. Some states have lost some species to pursue with hounds and are hanging on to what they have left, but even those could be targeted at some point. I imagine you all could guess what western states the antis may set their sights on later. Whether or not the antis are successful in taking what we love away, it makes me think what state or states may be some of the last strongholds for hound men to live and hunt without fear that their state will lose their lion, bear, and cat hunting if legislation is drafted to ban these things.
If talking about western states, it's only my opinion that Utah will be one of the safest states for houndsmen into the future in terms of lowest risk of losing any of their hound hunting. Idaho and Texas as well.
I'm interested to hear if others have any thoughts on this subject.

Hello, Alex.
Unless you own a ranch or know someone that does, there are very few places in Texas, to run hounds.
Most deer hunters despise hounds and some will shoot on sight. Many ranchers will shoot any dog, that chases livestock or deer.
An older rancher, I know, kept having hog hunters sneak on his land and he kept asking them to kept their dogs off. He kept finding four wheeler tracks, broken fences and dog tracks. So he set snares, Coyote getters and traps and so did the ranchers next to him.

Thanks for the input, John. The mentality of some other sportsmen against hound hunting certainly won't bode well if we ever need their support of us, if push comes to shove

I would say Utah is a good choice. Idaho would be a second choice though.

Many years ago, I had a very nice walker. KIA for trespassing. I was in high school and it was my first really good hound. I hunted with an older man, who saved me from making a very bad mistake.
The truth is, we are a dying breed and so are the hounds.

And what about Florida? The company my wife works for rented
this villa in Miami for its best and most faithful employees... and said wife started working there in 1997, so she got a ticket for four. We're going with my daughter and her boyfriend, with whom I have good relations - the fact that he shoots and hunts may have played a role in this!
So, we were thinking about going on a little hunting trip, if possible, while our respective partners would be out in the city. Should I bring the dogs along, or have them stay with my eldest son while we're away?

You have to travel a pretty good ways from Miami to hunt anything except a good Cuban sandwich!

Okay, that dreadful thought made its way into my mind, and it's now confirmed. Thanks, this way I'll avoid carrying so much stuff for nothing!
