How many of you bounce around in other states. I live in California. But I spend time hunting in Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. I plan on doing a little hunting in Oregon and Idaho one of these days. It's nice to hunt familiar country. But it is hard to beat venturing into the unfamiliar and exploring places you have never been.

I live in Wisconsin. I try to make at least one trip a year to a new area(Or have the last 5 years). I have hunted Ontario Canada, few different spots in Maine, Idaho, and Minnesota. I enjoy looking and hunting new area. I think West Virginia might be next on my list, they have a good training season and a non resident can get in on it after Wisconsin season closes.

I really want to .. I'm in New Mexico but I have hunted down and TX and went to Northern NV one time .. sure would like to make the. time to try some different country

Brett do you know of any established hog populations that can be hunted on public ground in NM?

I think over on the eastern side of the state along the Pecos River ...we don't have any here yet but they say they are on their way .. I think someone said there are some down in the boot hill SW corner ... I know David Hise though has hunted them along the Pecos

Wv training season is year round. It’s getting harder to find public land that is available to hunt. A lot of land is lease and the clubs don’t take in many hound hunters. If you can find a place to hunt jump on it. We have a lot of bear. They usually don’t come out the dens till beginning of May and come December it’s gets hard to find a track. So plan your trip around those months. Good luck and fun hunting

Thanks for the info, and pointers. Yes you have a training season year round but believe that is residents only. I believe non-residents have some specific dates. I could be wrong thou but thought that is how I read it.

I live in PA and we cant run bear legally with hounds here so I hunt WV. GVBear your correct as a non resident you would only be allowed to run September-March. So the spring and summer months when most want to train you unfortunately cant. Virginia has a similar kill season as WV and their training season opens in August so by going one state over you gain a month of training season and their kill season is typically a little bit longer as well. The licence is a little more than WV though.
