a While ago I was watching Pure Country for the billinoth time..(By the way george straight is a horrible actor)..

there was a line in that movie I never though much about... "your a Flat lying Cur Dog" When I think about it. there are allot of saying that relate back to hunting dogs.

I'll start with a few... don't leave me hanging here.

"Your a Flat Lying Cur dog"
"Barking up the wrong tree"
"quit hounding me...

I wonder how many we could come up with that most average people don't know Fully understand the origins.....Hopefully I didn't take them all!!.

i've heard the bird dogging one before, does that mean like your boss was pointing at you(blaming things on you)?

Dogged determination-not giving up and following through on something.

Yo Dog!-modern greeting for friends and acquaintances you are fond of (don't try this with anyone over 40, they won't understand) .

Sick as a dog-I don't know where this comes from. I think it means how dogs don't really let on they are sick unless they are REALLY sick. It could also refer to the amount of puking a dog can do from eating something as small as a blade of grass.

How did no one remember this one: "Time to piss on the fire and call in the dogs". This use to be may dads favorite saying before he hung up hound hunting.

from Arkansas was fond of saying

"That hound don't hunt no more" when referring to a policy proposal that was outdated, outmoded, or proven to be in error.
