I was wondering what everyone could tell me about the Dennis Upson line of blueticks. I am looking at a 8 month old male he has and was wondering what people experienced with his dogs thought about them.

I've met Dennis before and seems like a pretty nice and honest guy. I hear good and bad things about them. When you breed a lot of dogs like he does there is always a chance that one of them didn't work out.........and that's all it takes for someone to spread a rumor or story about his dogs. Anyways, I've never owned one or hunted with one but I've heard good things overall. I think it'd be worth your time giving him a call and looking into it.

I've owned a few dog's out of Dennis's stock both were top notch, but were slow starters.I hunted many many dogs from his Line when i was training dogs for a living,Matt O'Claire a friend of Dennis's has his line also, and crossed in some more smokey river as well.I've ran quite a few dogs for matt,he knows about all there is to know about upson bred stock.

The crew that I hunt with including myself have had some Upson dogs. They have been very good. I would say that they have been medium to cold nosed. They are excellent tree dog and the female we have had are the grittiest blue dogs I have ever been around. They mother of the dogs we have was killed in Wisconsin on a bad bear last year. We mainly hunt bear but some of the dogs have made cat dogs also. I don't think you could go wrong with getting that pup you are talking about. I know there are culls in every line of dogs but my opinion is that this is a good line.

Dennis is a honest hunter and breeder. I have owned three hounds that were from the cross of Blue Boy II and Blaze. I feel these dogs helped improve the confirmation and athletism of my dogs. I am sending one of my female pups to Dennis (five days old). The pup goes back to his dogs on both sides. His dogs are generally a little smaller, good noses and very athletic.
My gyp had 10 pups her first round, 6 males and 4 females.
Adios,
Gary
