Well i finially made it up here to la grande and settled in. Waiting for snow to run my dogs. They are both a little over a year old and will be they're first year running cats on they're own. I was wondering if anyone in my area could help me out of finding some game to run and possibly go hunting with. I am by no means trying to over on anyone's hunting spots or anything like that. I have been doing my research and scouting as many areas as possible and have found a few tracks but have not had the chance to run my dogs on em. I am simply just trying to find some other hound hunters in my area to enjoy the spot with. Also trying to learn a completely new area is quiet tough and frustrating sometimes lol. I seem to always find those dang dead end roads that the map shows other wise. If anyone is interested in helping out, you can either pm me or just leave a responce. Thanks

Red, your right in the middle of good country. Bout any direction you go your in good huntin.
When the hound club was going, LaGrande had the biggest # of members, not sure how many are still around. Ted Cradock was the pres of the club, he's doing research for the fish & game now but may be able to give you a few names to call.

r@w robin is right on the money contact ted. he is a top dog man in your area. or head north toward elgin go up to palmer jct. head for looking glass cr. i always have found bobcat in that country. there is however a guy from elgin trapping in that country. he runs a snow machine to trap off of. (probably not this year yet) so it would be real easy to work around him. places like eagle cr. drainage, motet cr. luger springs. jarbo. these are all good areas. this is also a lean snow year so i bet you could even top over lookout mtn. and hunt the troy or. side. places like elbow cr. hoodoo ridge. pick up a umatill national forest map and you will have it covered.good luck. mike

R@W. HEY THE ONLY THING I DIDN'T MENTION WAS THERE ARE A FEW WOLVES SHOWING UP IN THAT AREA. I STOPPED IN AND HUNTED THERE ON MY WAY HOME FROM LION HUNTING MONTANA LAST SEASON AND RIGHT OFF THE BAT CUT A WOLF TRACK IN LITTLE LOOKING GLASS CR. BACK IN BY THE SINKS.IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO CHECK WITH THE GAME COMMISSION BEHIND BI-MART IN LE GRANDE AND SEE IF THEY WOULD GIVE YOU A HEADS UP AS TO ANY POTENTIAL HOT SPOTS. EVEN UKIAH HAS SOME AROUND. JUST AN OCCUPATIONAL HAZARD OF OUR TIME. OR CALL TED CRADDOCK. HE ALSO WOULD KNOW IF ANY HAVE CAUSED HOUNDSMEN ANY PROBLEMS. GOOD LUCK. MIKE

R@W, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF TED HAVING ENOUGH TIME TO TURN ON A COMPUTER, AS HE HUNTS ALL THE TIME FOR THE STATE. HE LIVES IN LE GRANDE AND CAN BE FOUND IN THE DIRECTORY. THE WOLF DEAL WILL GET BAD OVER TIME. AND YOU HAVE ANOTHER SPECIES OF GAME NEW TO THE REGION. MOOSE! YES SEEMS THEY HAVE COME DOWN FROM IDAHO ACROSS THE GRAND RHONDE RIVER FROM THE TROY END AND HAVE SETTLED IN THE WENAHA COUNTRY. A GOOD FRIEND WHO WORKS FOR FISH AND WILD LIFE AT PENDLETON WAS TELLING ME HE RECIEVED A CALL FROM THE STATE THAT A BIG COW MOOSE HAD BEEN HIT BY A MOTORIST ON I-84 AT MECHAM. WOW! HEY A MOOSE IS WORSE THAN BAYING A BEAR, UP IN B.C. THEY JUST STOMP A MUD HOLE IN YOU. LOL
